Someday I’ll Take Art: Continuing the Journey
With Susan Ruby
Intermediate to Advanced Acrylic and Oil Painting
Thursdays, Sept. 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th, 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
This is a continuation of the popular “Someday I’ll Take Art” series of classes focused on painting with acrylic and oil paints. Participants should have an intermediate to advanced skill level. All types of media are welcome, and teamwork is encouraged. Please come prepared with several ideas to develop, and collaborate on a joint class project that will be displayed and sold at an upcoming gallery show.
Susan graduated from Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fine Arts and later completed a graduate program in drawing, painting, and graphics. After a 30-year career as a public-sector city planner, she returned to art, living in Alexandria, Virginia, and taking classes at the Torpedo Factory Art League. For the past six years, she has taught painting, mixed-media, and en plein air drawing at Tryon Painters and Sculptors.
Student Provided Materials: Paints, Brushes, Canvas or Paper, Palette, Reference Materials, and additional Acrylic Medium as needed. Easels are available in the studio for your use. Although each person is responsible for their own supplies, in this 4-week session, participants will also be provided a range of acrylic paints and surfaces from the proceeds of the sale of the previous class project “Color My World”. Students can enter the gallery through the front door and down the stairs. If stairs are a concern, you may enter from the lower back level and park behind Throwbax Bar and Grill. If the lower-level door is locked, please knock loudly so that someone can come and open it for you.
