This is the first of our WAMM workshop series with three local women musicians and entrepreneurs in a conversation with the audience about our challenges and successes as musicians and women in the Capital Region Music scene. This will be a question and answer format, so come curious and talk with us about how the scene is working (or not working) for us and what we can do to find our happy place in music!
Deb Cavanaugh is an award-winning singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and music educator who has dedicated their life to performing and teaching music full time. She is a Music Together educator for children and families, has classes for young children at Caffè Lena and performs for a variety of ages regularly in the Capital Region and beyond with her well-crafted and catchy original music and vast catalog of cover songs.
Crystal Dea Moore co-owns Peak Music Studio with her husband Jeff. After working a "regular" job for many years, she transitioned to a full-time music career. Also a musician and innovator, her current project, Dark Ballet, combines the unbridled power of a hard rock/metal ensemble with the grace and intensity of ballet, modern dance, and more, pushing the boundaries of live performance.
Niki Kaos is a local singer-songwriter with an alt-rock, anti-folk flair, as well as a journalist for RadioRadioX Xperience Monthly. You may see her performing with her band, Curious Comet or performing the occasional solo show, but most recently Niki has been focused on event production. Recent highlights include co-writing, producing and starring in Moochie The Dumpster Kat, The Musical with Peggy of Troy and co-producing WAMM Fest 25 with Crystal Dea More.
This event is for women and fem identifying participants. We encourage all interested women to attend - this is a pay way you can event. $20 suggested donation. No one turned away for lack of funds.
The Acoustic WAMM jam will start at 3pm after this event, and attendees are encouraged to RSVP for that event as well if interested in staying after for the jam. Look for a separate event invite or comment on this event and @Niki Lee will follow up with you!
