Hayden Beck's Field Recording Workshop

This workshop series introduces participants to the art and practice of field recording using smartphones. Through guided listening, hands-on exercises, and creative prompts, participants will develop skills in sonic awareness, sound capture, editing, and presentation.

• Smartphone (iOS or Android)
• Headphones or earbuds
• Writing utensil (pen or pencil)
• Notebook, sketchpad, or clipboard with paper
• Phone charger
• Portable Bluetooth speaker (optional, for playback sessions)
• DIY windscreen materials (sock, foam, faux fur, etc.)
• Plastic cup or paper cone (for directional mic experiments)
• Scissors and Tape

Summary:

  Learn to listen deeply, record with intent, edit on your phone, and explore sound as art, memory, and performance. If you have a smartphone, it's all that's required!
