Please join us in the library for an Author Talk with Mildred Mills, who will be discussing her novel Daddy's House: A Daughter's Memoir of Setbacks, Triumphs & Rising Above Her Roots.
Mildred J. Mills is a nationally recognized author, award-nominated podcaster, and motivational speaker whose storytelling journey began on a sixty-acre cotton farm in Wetumpka, Alabama. As the 3rd of seventeen children, Mildred brings a legacy of resilience to every stage she graces. Now a retired IT executive and winner of the 2022 Etruscan Prize and 2024 Self-Love Advocate of the Year Award, she speaks to the heart of overcoming silence, shame, and systemic barriers.
Her bestselling memoir, Daddy’s House: A Daughter’s Memoir of Setbacks, Triumphs & Rising Above Her Roots, offers a raw and healing account of childhood trauma, domestic violence, and courageous transformation. Mildred’s story and message are especially powerful for new beginnings. Her life is a living example that we don’t need a map to lead—we only need the courage to begin.
She is currently writing a children’s book that explores the emotional impact of incarcerated parents, and she uses her platform to advocate for truth-telling, self-love, and generational healing. Mildred holds a B.A. and M.A. in Creative Writing and English. She lives in Atlanta, Georgia, with her husband. Learn more at mildredjmills.com.
