ImproLab is an improvisation laboratory for artists from all disciplines and the community of movement and sound enthusiasts in Trondheim. The Lab wants to offer creative approaches to certain topics that can be explored interdisciplinary through improvisation - a place to inspire and to connect!
This ImproLab is a meeting between double bass player Nicolas Leirtrø and dance artist Anna Thu Schmidt that explores the interplay of movement, sound and visual art. As an interdisciplinary artist, Nicolas is based at Rotvoll Kunstnerkollektiv where he creates music and visual artworks. His prints will serve as inspiration for the movement and sound improvisation.
The event includes a workshop part with set exercises followed by an open jam as a playground for diverse artistic expressions.
Dance experience is not required!
Musicians are very welcome to bring their own instruments and jam with us.
Doors open 15 minutes before the event and will be closed by the start of the event.

Bio: Nicolas Leirtrø is an award-winning and critically acclaimed double bassist, guitarist, composer, and visual artist. His work spans a dynamic fusion of free jazz, improvised music, and rock. He holds a master's degree from the Jazz Department at NTNU in Trondheim.
Anna Thu Schmidt is a dance artist with a passion for dance improvisation, interdisciplinary collaborations, site-specific performances, and integrated dance. She holds a B.A. in Dance in Education (ArtEZ University of the Arts Arnhem/Netherlands) and M.A. in Dance Studies (NTNU). Anna leads ImproDans Trondheim and Samtidsdans for voksne Trondheim, and started up PRAXIS Trondheim and Ecstatic Dance in Trondheim. annathuschmidt.com
