Welcome to ImproLab with Live Smidt and Anna Thu Schmidt

Cellist Live Smidt and dance artist Anna Thu Schmidt invite you on a movement and sound journey inspired by the ocean. Both artists created works around that theme within their own discipline and want to invite now for a collective exploration. The first part of the event offers guided movement invitations inspired by the rich sounds of the cello followed by an open jam as a playground for diverse artistic expressions.
This event is open to all ages! Dance experience is not required!
Musicians are very welcome to bring their own instruments and jam with us.
Doors open 15 minutes before the event and will be closed by the start of the event.

The Lab wants to offer creative approaches to certain topics that can be explored interdisciplinary through improvisation - a place to inspire and to connect!

Bio: Live Sunniva Smidt is a cellist from Trondheim, with education from the Norwegian Academy of Music and NTNU. Smidt plays regularly with ensembles such as TrondheimSolistene, SiTron and Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, and is also involved in several theater productions both at Trøndelag Teater (2023-2025) and in independent contemporary theater productions, including “Durante and the Bad Loves” (Spreafico Eckly) and “Bare en ert” (Kompani Spring). Smidt is a versatile chamber musician who, in addition to working in the classical field, is also active in several contemporary, improvisational and jazz ensembles.
Anna Thu Schmidt is a dance artist with a passion for dance improvisation, interdisciplinary collaborations, site-specific performances, and integrated dance. She holds a B.A. in Dance in Education (ArtEZ University of the Arts Arnhem/Netherlands) and M.A. in Dance Studies (NTNU). Anna leads ImproDans Trondheim and Samtidsdans for voksne Trondheim, and started up PRAXIS Trondheim and Ecstatic Dance in Trondheim. annathuschmidt.com
