About the event

BOKBAD: Being Norwegian, Becoming Trønder
A literary talk on identity, culture, language & belonging

What does it mean to be Norwegian? Can you become Trønder, or are you simply born into it?
Join us for a unique bokbad (literary talk) that dives into the tangled roots of identity, regional pride, and cultural outsiders navigating Norwegian society.

This event features Tania Winther, Norwegian-Australian poet and author of The Trønders, and Lorelou Desjardins, French-Norwegian writer behind the bestselling book and blog: A Frog in the Fjord. Moderated by Per Arne Bakken, this is a lively and thoughtful conversation where humor meets reflection.

Topics Include:
– What is “Norwegian-ness”?
– Being a third culture kid in a land of quiet rules
– Who are the Trønders, really?
– Funny stories of dialect mishaps & identity crashes
– Can you truly belong in a culture you weren’t born into?

With personal stories, book readings, and candid moments, this is a literary talk 'bokbad' full of wit, warmth and cultural insight.

About the Speakers:
Lorelou Desjardins – French-born, globally raised, and now firmly planted in Norway. Known for her humorous takes on Norwegian life, she’s the author of the bestselling book: A Frog in the Fjord and the new release 'How to Become Norwegian'.

Tania Winther – A world-raised writer, artist and poet with roots scattered a bit all over. Her new book: 'The Trønders - A Quirky Guide to Trondheim, Trønderland and Its People' playfully explores dialect, belonging, and the absurd beauty of local identity.
