On Saturday, November 1st, join us at Lillescenen, Kulturhuset for an unforgettable evening that transcends borders and takes you on a journey to Gaupdalen – Lynx Valley, an imaginary realm where the spirit of northern Europe’s folk traditions meets a contemporary, nomadic soul.
Born in Estonia and having traveled across the Nordic countries, Germany, and the Shetland Islands, Johanne-Adele Jüssi has crafted her sound by blending the folk melodies she encountered along the way. With the help of her talented trio, featuring Bendik Lund Haanshus (guitar/guitar synth) and Christo Stangness (double bass), Jüssi invites us into the utopian dreamscape of Lynx Valley—a place as familiar as it is unknown, like something you’ve heard before but never quite like this.
Her music flows with the freshness and tunefulness of the northern European folk tradition, but it’s not confined by it. Jüssi’s compositions spark with joy, curiosity, and a spirit of discovery—blurring the line between Norwegian and Estonian folk, jazz, and electronics, creating an individual voice that’s distinctly her own. “Lynx Valley,” Jüssi says, “is where my musical wanderings can rest and develop further. I found a place that felt like home.” Though Lynx Valley may be fictional, its warmth, honesty, and the joyful spell it casts on Jüssi’s music feel as real as anything we can imagine.

During the tour, Jüssi has handed out local newspapers and seed packets so that audiences can grow their own carrots from the mythical valley.
