Shakespeare 70 is pleased to announce open auditions for its fall production of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew.
The production will run October 15-18 at 8pm, and October 19 at 2pm, in the Don Evans Black Box Theater on the campus of The College of New Jersey.
Our production of The Taming of the Shrew will be reimagined for a modern audience, including swapping the gender of the characters. The text will be edited to run approximately 90 minutes. The cast will feature an ensemble of six to ten female-presenting actors, age 18 and up, most (if not all) of whom will act as a Greek chorus to bridge the audience and the performers. Most of the roles in the text will be played by these female-presenting performers including lords, suitors, servants and more. The cast will also feature two male-presenting actors, age 25 to 50, to play Katherine and Bianca.
The role of Petruchio has already been cast.
Please note: all roles are Non-Equity and unpaid.
