Minneapolis songwriter Jimmy Peterson spent the better part of the last twenty five years playing with a variety of Minneapolis bands. His 90’s alt-country group Bellwether did pretty well for themselves. Leaving behind five records, touring the states, Canada and Europe.
That was back when the newly emerging genres of Alt-Country and Americana were only gaining momentum, and the independent music scene was stronger than ever.
These days Jimmy and Casey are still out there. Doing exactly what they’ve always done, playing a unique but classic brand of acoustic roots music. The duo enjoys the benefits of traveling light. A couple guitars, and an ample supply of gas station coffee is just about all that’s required.
Currently, recording their upcoming third release and on a tour of the Mississippi river valley.
Peterson says he plans to keep at it for as long as it takes to make a few more records. Or at least until there’s some sort of intervention, whichever comes first.
“Somewhere along the line, you end up back where you started from. Remembering what it was you loved about playing in the first place. We get a little older and hopefully wiser, and then things just seem to get easier.”
The dou has been together since 2019.
