Eli Kahn (After Ours) returns to The Alluvion with a brand new touring trio Sugar Bomb and a performance by Detroit artist Na Bonsai with a full band. The vibe for this show: groove-jazz, improvisation, feel good rhythms, Afro-futurist modern soul, and top notch musicianship.
SUGAR BOMB: Sugar Bomb is an instrumental groove jazz trio formed in 2023 in Asheville, NC. Known for their dynamic range in taste and performance, they are often described as modern, playful, and refreshing.
The trio consisting of Jacob Bruner (keyboards), Eli Kahn (bass/guitar), and Joe Enright (drums) draw from a wide range of influences spanning classical and jazz to fusion, hip hop, and electronic music.
Often categorized as jazz for simplicity’s sake and perhaps highlighting their love for improvisation, Sugar Bomb creates a genre-defying kaleidoscope of musical expression through sensitive, yet high-energy performance and composition.
NA BONSAI: Na Bonsai is a Detroit-based guitarist, vocalist, and composer whose work blends soul, jazz, and experimental elements into lush, emotionally charged music. In addition to songwriting and performance, they explore graphic scoring as a way to bridge visual art and music, creating open frameworks for improvisation and collaboration. Their performances balance intimacy and spontaneity, inviting listeners into a world of groove, vulnerability, and imagination.
Join Na Bonsai and their dynamic live band for a special performance celebrating the release of Na Bonsai’s debut full-length album, Obsidian Bloom.
Obsidian Bloom is an earthy, futuristic fusion of soul, jazz, and experimental influences—music that navigates yearning, transformation, and liberation with both tenderness and power. Drawing from deep roots in Black musical traditions and an ear for the unexpected, Na Bonsai creates a sonic world where organic textures meet electronic edges.
For this performance, Na Bonsai (guitar, vocals) will be joined by Caelin Amin (bass), Todd Watts (drums), and Stick and Adé (background vocals), bringing the record to life.
