Please join us at GTLUG's monthly meeting--second Monday of the month. As a reminder, we are now meeting at Northwestern Michigan College (NMC), in the lower level of the Timothy J. Nelson Innovation Center (TJNIC) building, Room #15.
This month we'll have two topics, both radio technology focused. We're encouraging our local HAM enthusiasts to get involved.
For the first half of the meeting, W8TVI will be locally broadcasting Meshtastic packets over LoRA, and discussing the technology. For the uninitiated, Meshtastic is a decentralized mixed media (mostly radio) mesh network designed for trancieving messages long distances--regardless of other internet presence. If you have a portable Meshtastic node, you're encouraged to bring it to the meeting. Depending on turnout we may get our own mesh going.
For the latter half of the meeting we'll be continuing our rocketry project, that we began late last year. At this month's meeting we'll be discussing project updates. We need help deciding on what radio protocols to use, as well as deciding on radio antenna.
Regardless of whether you were at previous meetings or not, your presence is welcome. This is a multi-interest project, involving rocketry, radio, physics, UAVs, electronics, 3D modeling and printing, and of course programming. So if any of this is interesting to you, please join us.
If you have any questions, or comments, please post on the event wall, or /join us on IRC (see event host for details).
After the meeting, given sufficient interest, we may retire to some establishment nearby for beverages and food.
