Come learn about the different DIY composting systems at the SEEDS Compost Zoo, where we have eight different composting set-ups on display. You can meet and pet our red wiggler worms and other micro-organism friends!
This is a family-friendly event–all ages are welcome!
🪱 There will be a variety of kid-friendly activities including but not limited to:
🪱 A reading by Brianne Farley, author and illustrator of Worm Makes a Sandwich
🪱 Hands-on Compost Microbe Bingo
🪱 The Traverse Area District Library will have their Bookmobile and Compost storywalk at the Compost Zoo!
🪱 Blush Face Painting will be there for free face painting
🪱 Other fun activities like compost cornhole and more
This event is part of the Michigan Organics Council’s Great Michigan Compost Tour. Food rescuers, animal feed operators, and composters across the state are hosting tours to highlight how surplus food, yard waste, and food scraps are rescued to feed hungry people or transformed into valuable animal feed or soil amendments.
