Join us for an insightful talk at The Valentia Lecture “Ireland’s Place in the World of 2040 “- a must-attend event for all knowledge seekers!
This year, we are introducing a new format, where we are inviting keynote speakers on a range of perspectives from history to arts & media to politics & society to technology & business. Confirmed speakers to date include historian Professor Jane Ohlmeyer of Trinity College Dublin, journalist Mick Clifford, Minister of State, Michael Healy Rae and businessman Denis O Brien.
Each of the presentations will be followed by a panel discussion with 4 of Ireland’s future leaders, all in their 30’s, the same age as Cyrus Field, the entrepreneur who transformed the world when he led the transatlantic cable project in the late 1800s. Over 30 of these young leaders will be invited from the world of business, politics, academia, media, government, arts and sport in which they will be asked to reflect on the Ireland of today and to share their vision for Ireland in 2040 and its place in a globally interconnected world.
This year we will again be hosting an online “link-up” with Hearts Content in Newfoundland Canada, which will feature a greeting from each country’s Ambassadors.
Once again, the lecture will be held in the historic Cable Station in Knightstown in Co Kerry, starting at 2pm on the afternoons of both Thursday and Friday. We look forward to hosting the popular gala dinner at 8pm on the Friday evening at the Royal Hotel.
There is no admittance charge to the Lecture at the Cable Station but as numbers are restricted please via the ticket link.
Please note that there will be no parking available at the Cable Station.
Tickets for the Gala Dinner are priced at €60, plus booking fee, and can be purchased via the ticket link.
