ChoralFest: Victoria Simmonds with Lada Valešovà

Acclaimed mezzo-soprano Victoria Simmonds invites you on a richly evocative journey through the turning year in Songs of the Seasons — a lyrical collection of songs tracing spring’s tender blossoming through summer’s sensual bloom to autumn’s shadow and winter’s hush.

Featuring exquisite miniatures:
By Berlioz, Fauré, Massenet, Ireland, Rachmaninov, Debussy, Grieg, Quilter and Purcell, this recital moves fluidly across languages and styles, bound together by poetic instinct and seasonal atmosphere.

With highlights such as Villanelle, Silent Noon, Spring Waters, and Blow, blow thou winter wind, this is music that breathes, shimmers, and burns with human feeling — from April’s first promise to December’s icy introspection. A mid-recital interlude from pianist Lada Valešovà of Debussy’s The Snow is Dancing offers a moment of crystalline stillness.
