6pm - Cleanin' up the Town: Remembering Ghostbusters
Remembering Ghostbusters delivers the most complete account of how the classic film Ghostbusters was made. UK brother and sister team of director Anthony Bueno and producer Claire Bueno have travelled all over the United States from Lily Dale to Jacksonville cross country to San Diego, LA and San Francisco, gathering interviews with over 40 members of the cast and crew. Responsible for bringing these stories to life include actors Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson and Sigourney Weaver, director Ivan Reitman, producers Joe Medjuck and Michael C. Gross, Visual effects crew include Richard Edlund, John Bruno and editor Sheldon Kahn. Made in 1984 in the pre digital age when special effects were still evolving. Ghostbusters was an instant hit followed up five years later with Ghostbusters 2. Now with a string of spin offs from cartoons, video games, CLEANIN’ UP THE TOWN: Remembering Ghostbusters celebrates why the love of Ghostbusters has lasted over 35 years and sparked the imagination of so many.
8.30pm - Ghostbusters
Ghostbusters is a supernatural comedy that follows three eccentric parapsychologists—Dr. Peter Venkman, Dr. Raymond Stantz, and Dr. Egon Spengler—who lose their university jobs and decide to start a ghost-catching business in New York City. Setting up shop in an old firehouse and calling themselves the Ghostbusters, they use advanced technology to trap and contain paranormal entities haunting the city. As their business booms, they hire a fourth member, Winston Zeddemore, to help manage the growing workload. Meanwhile, a major supernatural threat begins to emerge when Dana Barrett, a client, reports strange occurrences in her apartment building, including a demonic presence known as Zuul. As ancient Sumerian gods begin to invade the city through a gateway in Dana’s building, the Ghostbusters must step up to prevent the apocalypse. Blending witty dialogue, special effects, and memorable performances—especially by Bill Murray—Ghostbustersbecame a cultural phenomenon, known for its humor, iconic theme song, and inventive take on the paranormal.
