About the event

Toronto Island Paddle & Walk
On Sunday September 7th, a group of Geo-cachers are meeting at Jack Layton Ferry Terminal at 8:00AM for a social event before boarding the Ward Island Ferry to the Toronto Islands for a Kayak/Bike/Hike Adventure picking up caches and adventure labs that are around the islands.

The ferry will be leaving at 9:00 SHARP for Ward Island. Jack Layton Ferry Terminal is located at 9 Queens Quay W., at the Queens Quay West and Bay Street intersection. The terminal is set back 100 metres south of the intersection, behind the Westin Harbour Castle.

The cost to take the ferry over to Toronto Island is as follows: Adult (-64) $9.11 Senior/Youth (+65) $5.86. You can repay on their website or at the Ferry.

We will be renting Kayaks at Toronto Island SUP (www.torontoislandsup.com). The cost is $30.00 for the first hour and $15.00 for every hour after that. I would be booking everyone's kayak as a group but payment will be taken care of by the individual. (A payment link will be sent to each geocacher once you indicate your interest.)

The PLAN is to rent Recreational Kayaks Or Double Kayaks at 9:30AM for 2-3 hours. The stronger Kayakers will do a hard paddle to the most western Geocaches and work their way back to the rental place. The weaker/newbies will start at the most eastern geo-cache and work towards the first group. That way it will cut down the cost of the rentals, everyone gets to find a cache, have fun and are not too tired for the rest of the day.

After the paddle, we will be having a Lunch break Event at Olympic Island for 30 minutes. Please back a Lunch. There are lockers at the rental place we can rent for the group to but our lunches in during our paddle. Also, there might still be venders around the area to purchase food.

Then we will continue our adventure west by either the Bike Share or on foot or both (depending on the number of bikes available at the Bike Share Stand) and make our way towards Hanlan's Point Ferry Dock while picking up Adventure Lab stops and a few geocaches. This portion of the day should only take an hour.

Then we will take the ferry back to Jack Layton Ferry Terminal to end our adventure.

Some of us will continue to the Distillery District for the Virtual and Supper. Let me know if anyone is interested in joining this small group for either the Virtual or Supper.

Please let me know you are interested in attending this event by leaving a message below or with either Angela Boudreau (aka aboudreau) or Susan Mantle (aka OpalandY) through messenger.
