Land Acknowledgement:
Sugar Shack TO takes place on the treaty lands and territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, specifically the Toronto Purchase Treaty, No 13 and the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat. It is now also home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Metis peoples.
Much like the Indigenous communities mentioned, Sugar Shack TO is committed to respecting the land and sharing it peacefully, as without it we would not be here today.
This land acknowledgement is only one step in supporting our Indigenous communities.
We hope our statement will encourage others to stand with us in solidarity and support.
