Pom-Poms & Tassels Workshop: Fibre Fun for the Streets & DIY for Your Home

Join us for our Workshop Wednesdays series at Gallery 1065!

Have you heard of yarnbombing? It’s the practice of bringing fibre arts into public space. At Gallery 1065, participants have been transforming the tree cages on Bloor with crochet and fibre art. This workshop will zero in on pom-poms and tassels, an easy and joyful way to get involved.

In this session, artist Shari Kasman will guide you through the colourful process of making pom-poms and tassels. These simple fibre-arts techniques can be turned into bright decorations for your home, or even used to add some playful colour to the streetscape.

Everyone will make a mini dangling garland to take home. The final portion of the session will be reserved for yarnbombing outdoors.

About the Artist:

Shari Kasman is a Toronto-based writer and multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the overlooked, the improvised, and the unofficial ways people reshape the city. Her practice includes photobooks, public art, and playful interventions like Bloordale Beach, spoof TTC signage, and collaborative workshops. She loves fibre arts and pigeons in equal measure.
