POETRY 101: Taught by someone who is still learning
Join a community of like minded, emotionally creative thinkers and feelers for an evening of self-discovery through the art of poetry and creative writing. This intimate, one-time workshop will cover the basics of poetry & creative writing and how it can be used as a resource to understand our feelings, emotions, and everything in between. With no prior poetry or writing experience required, you're formally invited to engage in thought-provoking discussions about identity, memories and life experiences, and weaving them into the craft of poetry & creative writing with the help of innovative prompts and empathetic conversation.
This intentional, safe space will leave you feeling emotionally charged and inspired to engage in the world of writing as a resource to understand yourself and the crazy world we're living in.
Curated and hosted by SpokenbyT in the beautiful space of Another Story Bookshop, this workshop will run from 7pm - 9:30pm with opportunities to network, share your work in an open-mic style format, indepently write, and snack on some light refreshments and treats.
T intends to strengthen the conversation around freedom of expression and creativity in a world where social media trends are dictating the art we put out. With extensive experience in education and workshop facilitation, T has created this workshop with the goal of igniting inspiration in emerging writers while simultaneously affirming that there is no right way to write. Social media, online standards, trends, none of these should have the power to change the art that you want to create.

Additional highlights:
SpokenbyT (T) is a Toronto-based spoken word poet, recording artist, director, and producer whose work bridges the emotional depth of poetry with the visual power of film. Blending jazz, soul, R&B, and hip-hop influences, her voice has graced stages like HISTORY, Massey Hall, and the Brooklyn Museum. In 2023, she performed a record-breaking 100 shows and made her songwriting debut on Yebba’s “Waterfall (I Adore You).” T released her debut single, “PLEASE,” followed by “Affinity,” and became the first poet to headline a Candlelight Concert in 2024. As a director and producer, her style merges documentary realness with modern storytelling, crafting films, music videos, and commercials that stir the soul. Her artistic collaborations include Foot Locker, TTC, Adidas, and artists like Char Viorea and 4sante. An alumna of The Remix Project, T is building a body of work rooted in vulnerability, intention, and unforgettable storytelling.
