This show is going to be incredible! Featuring some of Canada’s very best musicians, the Linsmore Tavern (1298 Danforth Ave) is so excited to welcome back to our stage Mr Miyagi! On Saturday September 20th Mr Miyagi are coming in and will be entertaining you with their amazing, nostalgic set-list from the 80s! You will hear some really cool 80s gems from either pop rock, New Wave, One Hit Wonders, Rock and so much more! This band absolutely killed it, the last time they played the Linsmore to a SOLD-OUT audience! There is a ton of hype around this band and this show at the Linsmore, so make sure you are a part of it! Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door.
Inspired by the legendary 80’s Sensei Nariyoshi Miyagi, the five musical martial artists of Mr Miyagi formed a Super Dojo in 2022 with one purpose… to revive the sacred 80s Mojo, the divine distillation of the Decade of Decadence. Each member of Mr. Miyagi is a 10 th degree Black Belt in their chosen discipline, with decades of experience in other famous Toronto Indie Rock Dojos.
Jack Trentman is a fearsome Guitar Samurai, whose delicate, lightning-fast slashing string technique has been employed to devastating effect in Suffer Machine, Funk Inc and The Gravelberrys.
Sean Ryan is a terrifying Bass Ninja known for his perfect time in renowned pocket prefectures like Basic English, Smart Like Streetcar and Flash Bangs
Ian ‘Cookie’ Taylor is the awe-inspiring master of Keyboard Kyudo, the supernaturally accurate note archery he employed in Monkey Trial and many recording sessions.
Tim Foy is the acknowledged Sensei of Kenjutsu, the thunderously precise Kendo ‘wooden sword’ drumming technique he employed with deadly precision during his service with Tabula Rasa, One and George Clinton.
Ron Bock, former member of The Killjoys, Scott B Sympathy and the Ground, is a singing Ronin whose vocal cords are simultaneously registered as lethal weapons and a controlled substance,
Mr. Miyagi are expertly trained in all the important New Wave and Alternative Mojo Schools of the 80s, including Bowie, The Cars, Squeeze, XTC, Prince, Psychedelic Furs, Talking Heads, REM, The Cure, Robert Palmer, Gary Numan, Devo, Roxy Music, Split Enz, Elvis Costello, Simple Minds and many others.
Every Mr Miyagi performance brings the beloved Era of Excess thrillingly back to life right before your very ears and eyes with three sets of wax on/wax off Rock and Roll mastery. Audiences are transfixed, their feet compelled to move, their spirits lifted, their cares and worries banished by the fearsome grooves and singalong hits.
