Makam Nights with Christos Barbas and Araz Salek

It is our pleasure to welcome Labyrinth Catalunya’s artistic director, Christos Barbas, to Makam Nights!

Born in Thessaloniki, Greece, Barbas has studied the ney and Ottoman classical music with prominent performers in Greece and Turkey, Ömer Erdogdular, Markos Skoulios, and Panagiotis Neohoritis. His approach to music underlines the timelessness and possibilities of older music, encouraging creative expression.

In addition to Makam Nights performance, Barbas will be leading two workshops at the Tranzac. Stay tuned, as the details will be made available shortly.
