Presented within Margaux Williamson's “Shoes, Books, Hands, Buildings, and Cars” at MOCA, this live performance investigates surface, perception, and the present moment in dialogue with the exhibition.
The evening opens as pianist Stephanie Chua performs Morton Feldman’s “For Bunita Marcus,” a 75-minute solo work renowned for its quiet intensity and spacious beauty. As the final notes dissipate, composer and sound artist Allison Cameron joins Chua in an improvised soundscape that responds intimately to Williamson’s paintings.
Together, Chua and Cameron mirror Williamson’s layered visual compositions, where everyday objects and multiple perspectives coexist. Drawing from Feldman’s resonant, durational style, their performance extends this sensibility into the physical realm, sounding the inside of the piano to create a tactile, immersive sonic experience.
This performance is part of MOCA’s Free First Friday Nights. Admission to the museum is Free from 5–9 pm. Tickets can be obtained ahead of time or at the door. Book in advance to reserve your spot!
