Week 1 – Foundations of Encaustic Painting (Sept 24)

• Introduction to encaustic painting: history, tools, and safety
• Preparing surfaces and working with encaustic medium
• Hands-on practice: 1–2 test panels to explore layering and fusing

Week 2 – Texture & Mixed Media (Oct 1)

• Techniques for carving, scraping, and stenciling
• Embedding materials like paper, thread, and botanicals
• Hands-on project: 1 larger panel + 1 mixed-media experiment

Week 3 – Color & Image Transfers (Oct 8)

• Working with pigments, oil sticks, and incising techniques
• Introduction to image transfers (photocopies, drawings)
• Hands-on project: color layering and transfer techniques

Week 4 – Personal Project & Group Critique (Oct 15)

• Advanced fusing and finishing techniques
• Hands-on: complete a personal encaustic piece
• Group sharing and constructive critique
