When do you ever get the chance to see two of Canada's best piano players performing together, both from one of Canada’s legendary bands, Blue Rodeo?
Two incredible artists in one intimate venue. Bob Wiseman, a founding member of Blue Rodeo and winner of five JUNO Awards, is a film composer, songwriter, and author. He has discovered or produced many artists, including Ron Sexsmith, The Lowest of the Low, Bruce McCulloch of Kids in the Hall, and former Canadian MP Andrew Cash. Bob has released 13 albums featuring guests like Daniel Lanois, Mary Margaret O’Hara, Eugene Chadbourne, Edie Brickell, Ron Sexsmith, Jane Siberry, Basia Bulat, and Serena Ryder.
Mike Boguski, the keyboardist for the Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductees Blue Rodeo, is recognized as one of the country’s finest instrumentalists. Since joining in 2008, he has appeared on all the band’s albums starting with 2009’s The Things We Left Behind, contributing to their evolution while staying true to their iconic roots rock sound. Beyond Blue Rodeo, Boguski’s musical ambition knows no bounds. Raised in Etobicoke, he began playing professionally in his teens, taking on various gigs before joining Revival Dear. This led him to Toronto’s Dakota Tavern, where he became part of its unofficial house band, The Beauties, whose Sunday night residency attracted large crowds and opened up more opportunities. When Blue Rodeo needed a keyboardist in 2008, Boguski got the call, and within days, he was on a U.S. tour after learning a 30-song setlist. Over the years, he has continued to study music and explore jazz projects. Sunday September 7.
