ARCHIVE PARTY! 🪩✨

We are gathering in honour of Black memory workers before us and among us. Join us as we preserve our photo archives, vibe to music, and find community in the act of gathering.

Magnetic/sticky adhesive photo albums cause chemical damage to our photographs. Bring your photo album to receive archival supplies and guidance on how to safely remove and rehouse your photographs.

ARCHIVE PARTY is an initiative to build a community of practice for Black memory work. Black memory work can be defined as the process of documenting, remembering, and honouring Black life. Come on this journey with us.

Admission is Free, Registration is required. This is a private event for Black folks!

Info: Guests arrive at the venue and check-in for the event. We will gather in Atrium.

Info: Guests can mingle while viewing original Black archival materials and community partner booths. Music will create the perfect atmosphere for the evening.

Info: The hosts will warmly welcome the guests and set the tone for the evening.

Info: The hosts (Archivists) will take you on a guided tour of the City of Toronto Archives facility and speak to guests about reference and preservation services.

Info: Guests can enjoy light refreshments in the Classroom and can take a moment to unpack their photo albums if they have not done so already.

Info: The hosts (Conservator) will lead all guests through a preservation demonstration. Guests will rehouse photographs with provided archival toolkits while music carries us into the evening.

Info: Wind down the evening with a moment of reflection. Guests are invited to share something they rediscovered in their archive that brought them joy.
