About the Artists
Anddre Mafra
Through a deeply personal and introspective performance, Anddre Mafra takes you on a journey with beautiful melodies and emotionally stirring lyrics. With captivating, dreamy acoustic arrangements and unsettling vocals, he shares his most beautiful stories from his journey since arriving in Canada. This show promises to move you, whether in smiles or tears.
Crossing the lines between North and South America, Anddre Mafra brings dream folk to an intimate reality. Hailing from Brazil and now based in Canada, Anddre blends Latin American roots with indie folk influences, journeying through themes of acceptance, love, and growth with a diverse repertoire of English and Portuguese songs. Anddre has captivated audiences with his intimate performances, sharing stages with notable acts like Cowboy Junkies and Andy Shauf. Drawing comparisons to Damien Rice and José González, Anddre’s heartfelt lyrics and evocative sound invite listeners on a journey through culture and emotion at every show.
Lady Ruby
Blending alternative-folk with hip hop rhythms, Lady Ruby invites audiences into the world of her debut EP — a genre-bending project rooted in harp, beats, and storytelling. Joined by a live band featuring bass and percussion, and accompanied by a series of guest vocalists and musicians, she brings each of the six tracks to life on stage in this special one-night showcase. This performance marks the official release of her EP, you won’t want to miss it!
Lady Ruby is a self-taught Canadian harpist and singer-songwriter, specializing in an alt-folk, dream pop fusion. Ruby began her journey with the harp in Montreal in 2014 while studying Fine Arts at Concordia University. She later moved back to her hometown in rural Ontario, where she continues to captivate a wide audience with her passion for genre blending. As her brand has evolved, Ruby coined the name Harptress, while developing a sub-genre she calls ‘harp hop’, incorporating elements of hip hop and soulful rhythms with electronic beats. Her performances offer an array of original compositions, popular song renditions and creative improvisations. Inspired by a diverse palette of genres, Ruby draws influence from a range of musical icons such as Lana Del Rey and The Weeknd. She recently released a single called Imagination, recorded and produced by Kudos LoKey at Snappy’s Playhouse in Toronto, where she continues to create new material and innovative sounds.
