A Fall Poetry Evening l أمسية شعرية خريفية

The night will feature performances by local Arab poets Mosab Al-Nomire, Leen Amarin, and Ahmed Al-Shabi, along with a special oud performance by Hytham Azmi Farah, followed by an open mic segment where you can share your own poetry or spoken word piece.

All proceeds from this event will be split between the , the , and a reliable Yemeni organization that we are currently in the process of identifying. Suggestions from the community are welcome and appreciated.

Featured Poets:

Leen Amarin is a Jordanian-Lebanese-Palestinian poet, writer, and researcher based in Tkaronto. Born and raised in Amman, she explores questions of homeland, migration, and identity through her creative practice and advocacy, seeing writing as an act of release and re-memberance. Her work is rooted in art as a sacred practice — one that connects self, creation, and community. As Toni Cade Bambara reminds her, “as a culture worker who belongs to an oppressed people [her] job is to make the revolution irresistible.”

Ahmed Al-Shabi is a Yemeni-Sudanese novelist and poet whose work reflects the turbulence and resilience of his homeland. Drawing from both Arabic and Western literary traditions, his writing seeks to weave a bridge between them — capturing the tragedy, endurance, and beauty of our shared human epoch.

Mosab Al-Nomire is a Syrian-Canadian poet, journalist, and curator. He published 2 books and wrote many articles. After leaving Syria in 2011, he worked in the UAE and Türkiye documenting human-rights violations across the Middle East before moving to Canada in 2019. As founder and executive director of Henna Platform, he creates spaces for cultural expression, healing, and artistic exchange within the community.

تشمل الأمسية عروضًا لشعراء عرب محليين مصعب النميري، لين عمّارين، وأحمد شهاب، بالإضافة إلى عزف عود مميز من هيثم عزمي فرح، وفقرة منبر مفتوح لأي شخص حابب يشارك بشعره أو قصيدة أدائية

‎لين عمّارين شاعرة وباحثة وكاتبة أردنية لبنانية فلسطينية تقيم حاليًا في تورونتو. وُلدت ونشأت في عمّان، وتسعى من خلال كتاباتها وممارستها الفنية إلى المصالحة مع هويتها كمهاجرة ومستوطنة عبر الفن والدعوة إلى العدالة. ترى في الكتابة فعلًا للتحرر واستعادة الذاكرة، وتغوص أعمالها في مواضيع الوطن والمنفى والهوية. بالنسبة للين، الفن ممارسة مقدّسة تُعيد الإنسان إلى ذاته وإلى الخلق وكلّ ما هو حي. وكما تقول توني كيد بامبارا: «بوصفها عاملة في الثقافة وتنتمي إلى شعبٍ مضطهد، فإن مهمّتها أن تجعل الثورة مغرية»

‎أحمد شهاب شاعر وروائي يمني سوداني وُلد ونشأ في اليمن خلال فترات اضطرابها وصراعاتها. تشكّلت ممارسته الفنية كردٍّ على الحرب وتعبير عن شغف الروح. يجمع في أعماله بين التقاليد الأدبية الغربية وإرثه العربي في محاولة لنسج خيطٍ يصل بين العالمين، لرصد مآسينا وجماليات عصرنا المُلهم والمأساوي في آنٍ واحد

‎مصعب النميري شاعر وصحفي وقيّم فني سوري كندي. نشر كتابين وعددًا من المقالات، وعمل بعد مغادرته سوريا عام 2011 في الإمارات وتركيا موثّقًا لانتهاكات حقوق الإنسان في المنطقة. ومنذ وصوله إلى كندا عام 2019 ركّز على بناء مساحات للتعبير الثقافي والتعافي والتواصل المجتمعي. وهو المؤسس والمدير التنفيذي لمنصة “حنّة” التي تُعنى بتبادل الأفكار والإبداع الثقافي والفني
