Exploring Oklahoma's Wild Heart: The Wichita Mountains

We're thrilled to offer a "close" to home excursion this year! We're heading to the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge in Oklahoma. It's about a 6-hour drive, and we'll help coordinate carpooling! We're staying at the Wild Buffalo Airbnb, which has 5 cabins and a bunkhouse. It's super cute and very conveniently located near the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. This adventure will involve shared beds and rooms. You'll bring your own meals, and we'll provide a gear list for the weekend. Prepare for hiking, rock scrambling, and stunning scenery! This trip comes highly recommended by other Dirty Girls and several friends. We're excited to explore the wild heart of Oklahoma, known for its beautiful views, diverse wildlife, and interesting places. We will also visit Medicine Park, Oklahoma, for a late lunch on Saturday.

Here's the plan for the weekend!

Arrive on Friday, 9/12, any time after 4 pm to get settled in your space. We'll eat an early dinner, pack some snacks, and head to Mount Scott for some exploration before sunset viewing. Sunset is at 7:45; we plan to arrive at the summit by 6:30 at the latest to allow time for exploration.

Saturday, 9/13 After breakfast, we will head out for some exploratory hikes to see the sights and the wildlife. We'll catch a late lunch or early dinner at a local restaurant, then meet up for the Bugling Elk Tour! This tour runs from 5:30 - 7:30 or 8, and we will see Elk and hear their bugling - it's mating season and it should be exciting! We should also see a variety of wildlife

.Sunday, 9/14, after breakfast and packing up, we will explore a little more, then head home by 1 pm.
