Global Sight Solutions' mission is to provide free eye care and eye surgery to the very poor in the developing world.
Global Sight Solutions is an avoidable blindness charity.
It was registered with the Charity Commission back in the 1990s by members of Guildford Rotary Club, the aim being to work with Rotary Clubs in the developing world and together establish financially sustainable eye hospitals which can provide a full range of eye care, free to the world’s poorest.
Global Sight Solutions is 100% a Rotary charity and, by virtue of the work it does, falls into one of seven Rotary Foundation areas of focus and can therefore obtain generous grants to help with financing its projects. Having regular access to such charitable grants enables Global Sight Solutions' to ensure that a donation of just £5 can enable the blind to see again.
There are estimated to be as many as 650 million people worldwide who, due to poverty, are just too poor to access the necessary eye care medical solutions for themselves.
Global Sight Solutions helps as many as it can.
Currently Global Sight Solutions undertakes around 1 million eye assessments per year and is approaching 200,000 surgical procedures pa. It can do more with more funding!
Global Sight Solutions establishes eye hospitals, which provide free eye care to those who need it most. It ensures that each hospital becomes financially independent and offers sustainably high standards of care.
