Curious about the night sky? Come along for early evening festive stargazing in Britain’s most northerly Dark Sky Park. December brings long, crisp nights—perfect for spotting the Milky Way and exploring winter constellations like Gemini and Orion.
We’ll begin at the Tomintoul & Glenlivet Discovery Centre with a cosy cup of hot chocolate and a short introductory presentation to help you get the most from your night-sky adventure. Afterwards, we’ll take a short night walk to the SkyHide—a purpose-built stargazing shelter—where you’ll have the chance to take in the Milky Way, identify constellations, and learn about star clusters.
The Glenlivet & Tomintoul area is one of the best places in the Cairngorms National Park to experience the magic of truly dark skies.
As we’ll be outdoors in December, please dress warmly and be prepared for cold or changeable weather. Lots of layers, plus a hat and gloves, will make the evening much more comfortable. Suitable footwear is also recommended for potentially wet or wintry paths.
Suggested donation of £7 through Eventbrite or on the night helps to support the Tomintoul & Glenlivet Cairngorms Dark Sky Park.
