Gillespie dam

This short little run will bring us to the Historic Gillespie Dam. An old 1920 concrete gravity dam located on the Gila River. It was once the longest highway bridge in the entire state of Arizona but failed in 1993 during the "65 year" flood. Remnants remain and is highly accessible to the public. It is a short little walk on a path to the structure.

We will then have lunch at the Little Italy Pizza Italian Restaurant. From there we will take AZ238 into Maricopa to the AZ347 to link back up with the I10.

Meet up will be at Quick Trip (8283 W McDowell, Phoenix) at 10am and we hope to depart shortly after...the restaurant (502 E Pima St,) is only 10 minutes away from the dam.
