Join us as Detroit’s incredible poet PEACE leads us in “Finding Your Voice.” Participants will come a little closer to understanding the power of their authentic voices. Practices of self reflection, internal re-search, creative expression through writing, and communicative arts will help develop this super power within to uplift our writers, their families and community.
PEACE has been writing poetry since the age of 10, evolving to conscious rap, slam poetry and music. She accepted a challenge and stepped out to participate in her first poetry slam in 2008 and won 1st place.
Shortly after, she entered into the “Detroit Bring It" talent competition, collecting another win in the category of Spoken Word, Rap and Comedy. This competitive momentum prompted PEACE to take her writing and performance to the national stage and writing for established artists.
PEACE is a two-time Recording Artist, two-time Grand Slam Champion, who continues to move crowds with her energetic wordplay. Her current projects include writing in preparation for publishing her book entitled "If I Were a Writer", workshop facilitation, teaching artist, and touring throughout the country.
The WritersShop Writing Workshop series is hosted by Lucas County Poet Laureate, Jonie McIntire. Open to all and free to attend, we meet on the final Tuesday of each month at one of the Toledo Lucas County Public Library branches. For June and July we will be at Reynolds Corners.
