Info: As eyewear dispensers, we are faced with answering many questions as we meet with patients. What are the patient’s expectations of their new eyewear, how candidly or formal should our delivery be, and do we have an understanding of the eyewear itself are a few of the questions we ask ourselves within a split second of greeting the patient. Answering these questions and many others correctly can be the difference between seeing this patient again for a purchase, or never again. Customizing the dispense experience for the patient takes practice, requires preparation, and knowledge to navigate a successful dispense that leaves a positive memory in their mind
Info: In this course we will learn about the difference between vision impairment and low vision. We will dive in to the diseases that impact sight and how that impacts overall function of daily living. We will review what is available beyond glasses, the various types of low vision services available, along with other tools and technology to those with visual loss to function in a visual world.
Info: This course invites students to review personal practices within their career to identify areas of stagnation or boredom. It will give suggestions, ideas and encouragement to create curiosity for lifelong learning.
Info: As eye care providers whether it be an optician or optometric/ophthalmic tech we get asked that question. While recommendations for drops do not fall under our scope of practice, it is important that we understand the difference between those drops that can be purchased over the counter and the drops or ointments that a patient may be prescribed.
This course is designed to assist in our understanding of the pharmaceuticals our patient base asks us about or are taking.
Info: This course reviews the common terminology used when working with contact lenses. We will review dk value, dk/t, the differences in materials of soft contact lenses and terminology used with RGP and Scleral lenses
