Open Auditions: "Dracula"

The Children's Theatre Workshop's Collective program invites actors ages 16+ to audition for this year's Collective production, "Dracula" by Steven Dietz.
We believe this production will be richer for having a diverse group of ages, gender representation, race/ethnicity, and abilities in the cast.

THE STORY:
"I want your fear. For your fear, like a current, rushes through your body. Your fear makes your heart pound, it renders your veins rich and full. Your fear hemorrhages deliciously within you." This new adaptation restores the suspense and seduction of Bram Stoker's classic novel to the stage. As Count Dracula begins to exert his will upon the residents of London, they try to piece together the clues of his appearances—in a valiant attempt to save themselves from a hideous fate. Rich with both humor and horror, this play paints a wickedly theatrical picture of Stoker's famous vampire.

AUDITIONS:
Thursday October 9th 6:30-8:00 pm
Sunday October 12th 3:00-4:30 pm

Auditions are at the CTW Building at 3106 Lagrange Street, please park in the back. Actors will be asked to read from sections of the script.

REHEARSALS:
Rehearsals will be 2x a week starting in mid October through mid-December. Rehearsals will likely be mid-morning on Saturdays, plus another day based on actor availability for 2 hours at a time. We will take a break in December for the holidays and return in January with rehearsals 3x a week for 2-3 hours at a time, until tech week which will start early February.

PERFORMANCES:
Performances are February 6-8, 2026 at the Ohio Theatre.

THE ROLES:
We need 5 male characters, and 2 female characters. Actors will be asked to play roles portrayed in their 20s-40s.

ABOUT THE COLLECTIVE:
The Collective is a group of theatre students who are learning about production management under the guidance and supervision of CTW staff. This is a hands-on educational process for them, so auditioners should be prepared to be patient and accommodate for their learning curve. They're great! They're also new at this.
