*Bring a NEW yoga mat to donate to the yoga students at NAOMI House, which operates an outreach residential program for women recovering from alcohol, substance and domestic violence abuse.
Purpose:
- Provide a constructive outlet for anger & frustration for the sake of sustainability
- Channel intense concerns about this current administration into action
- Explore self-care that is a balance of staying informed and centered
- Build community around a shared purpose
- Spark joy as a form of resistance to injustice
- Recharge our bodies, minds, and energy levels so we can continue to work towards justice and equity in our communities near and far
What to expect:
- Embody balance, equity, and compassion through the practices of yoga, breathwork, and meditation
- Practice yoga poses that allow the release of negative energy stored in the body due to stress
- Experience breathing practices that promote a calm focus and regulate the nervous system
- Generate open-heartedness in the midst of challenging situations and relationships for the sake of overall personal and collective wellness
- Nurture community among activists and supporters
What NOT to expect:
- “Staying out of politics”
- “Burying our heads in the sand”
- Toxic positivity
