Lower Slaughter
Having ploughed through the UK underground for over a decade, Sussex-by-the-sea’s Lower Slaughter unexpectedly returned in 2024 after an extended hiatus, with a shift in personnel, a new line-up & all-new music, which has now emerged within the form our brand new album ‘Deep Living’ out in June 2025!
The four piece once described themselves modestly as a band “who make loud riffs” though The Quietus description of “lurching noise-rock that occasionally works the angles but is chiefly a showpiece for big fuck-off riffs that call to mind Pissed Jeans, Nirvana and Harvey Milk” may be more accurate, and most certainly still holds true now.
Since their debut album release in 2017, the band has garnered high praise from the likes of BBC Radio 1 & BBC 6Music, The Quietus, Artrocker (no.1 album of 2019), All Music, Loud & Quiet and Flush The Fashion, as well as finding fans among the likes of BBC Radio 6 presenter Shaun Keaveny, BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens & cult comedy legend Stewart Lee, whilst also sharing stages with such bands as Pigs x7, Melt Banana, JOHN, Ditz, No Age, Part Chimp, The Men, Hey Colossus, USA Nails, Sex Swing, Gnod, among many others!

Slow Knife
The soundtrack to your favourite B-Movie. A boiling pot of post-punk, free jazz and no-wave shot through a science fiction filter. The sound is evocative of a Hammer Horror or Lynchian soundtrack intended to be both enthralling and sinister. The drama of Slow Knife resides in the silence between the frantic, sparse, gloomy musical passages to a cacophony of jubilant song. Imagine John Cooper Clarke and Tom Waits riding a bus to the 9th circle of hell, drinking bad wine and blasting the Marble Index on a shitty bluetooth speaker. Too Late For The Past, the debut album by Slow Knife, co-produced by Alex Cook/ Slow Knife and their mentor Lydia Lunch, is out now on Fr33zehead Records.
Daniel John Tasker’s poetry draws from numerous influences including William Blake and Alexander Pope. His subject matter ranges from Ancient History to epistemological nihilism. Tasker recently released his first poetry volume entitled ‘Observations’. Slow Knife use an array of weird and wonderful instruments to create a "bizarre and enchanting" sound. Lands & Body
In 2024 - over 20 years after making their debut as noise-rock duo That Fucking Tank, James Islip and Andy Abbott returned with new project Lands & Body. The gear remains the same - baritone guitar played through multiple amplifiers and drums. The approach, however, has matured like a fine Cask Ale. Math-rock riffs have become interlocking fingerpicked patterns and rhythms, ear-bleeding noise has given way to spacious dynamics. Double-digit song lengths and twin-neck guitar appearances up the prog factor. The signature Tank groove and interplay underpins an expanded palette of influences drawn from post-rock, minimalist folk, free jazz and desert blues. In a scene of reformations, legacy acts and ‘classic album replays’ James and Andy have decided to leave the past where it belongs and start afresh, the same but different and in the process carved out a new genre of dark mild-core.
