What is Disability Pride?:
Disability Pride Month is a time to celebrate the identities, experiences, and contributions of people with disabilities while promoting visibility, acceptance, and equal rights. It also commemorates the signing of the ADA which prohibits the discrimination against individuals with disabilities.
This is a FREE event and is open to the public! Help us bridge communities with love and laughter! We invite you to come connect with our amazing special needs and disabled community — because inclusion starts with simple moments shared together!
What to Expect:
Meet with characters such as Moana, Maui, Ariel, Ursula and Prince Eric! Visit our special guests Boo the therapy Cockatoo and the singing Mermaid Moonflower and her band of pirates.
Educational Tables:
The Virginia Marine and Science Museum (Live Animals), Bonnie Nowell and her large collection of beach and river finds, York River State Park Ambassador and our Recycling table with information and a make your own recycled craft option.
