On May 14 my brother in law, Michael “Mike” Diggs was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL). It’s rare in adults as it’s usually diagnosed in children.
This was a kick in the gut out of no where. He had some back and leg pain..After the pain became severe he went to his PCP. His labs were elevated enough to refer him to oncology in Columbia. The oncologist wasn’t too worried but wanted to do a bone marrow biopsy to be on the safe side. Here’s where God stepped in because had they shrugged it off without doing this procedure this disease would have gone undetected even longer. May 14 tests came back with this diagnosis. He was in KU Medical Center by that evening preparing for the fight of his life. He is closing in on two weeks of being there and has already had multiple rounds of chemo and immune-therapy. He had one day of set backs but is back on track with the rest of this round of chemo. He said he was thankful that the nausea hasn’t been too bad. He is starting to need more rest but that’s ok.
Michael will be undergoing treatment for the next 8-10 months therefore working is out of the question.
He’s grateful for all the phone calls and text messages from friends and family and all of the help hes already received. He’s ready to fight he says.. so please share this update and future updates with this #FightLikeMike.. #HopeHeals. Hope has been a word said a lot.. Hope for a good day, Hope for another tomorrow, Hope for this protocol to heal him, Hope for a future.
If you know Michael, you know he has the cutest and orneriest twins , Amelia and Elijah, who are 7. They are his Hope and what is giving him the will to #FightLikeMike. His children are his life and they need him here on this earth with them for as long as God will allow so please help us help him as this will be a long road..
Michael moved to Tipton in 2020 and is employed with the City of Tipton but obviously he doesn’t know what his near future holds for being able to work and provide for his kids. This is where we, as his family, friends, and community come in.
He will need all the financial, mental, physical, and most importantly spiritual help he can get for a while, so pray, pray everyday, every time you think of him, pray!!! Add him to your prayer lists, prayer chains, and prayer groups…. Just pray… for healing, strength, good days, faith, and HOPE!!!
