This in-person training is designed to teach clinical supervisors reflective supervision strategies and practice the application of those strategies with a goal of improved professional development and better clinical outcomes.

Designed for clinical supervisors, this training will offer an overview of reflective supervision and the benefits of using reflective supervision both in the supervisory relationship and ultimately in service of the professional growth of the supervisee. Through the training, participants will consider their own leadership and supervision styles, identify reflective strategies they may already be using, learn basic steps of reflective supervision, and apply reflective supervision to given scenarios. Reflective supervision as a tool to build resilience and address vicarious trauma will also be discussed.

Melissa Hamberg, LCPC, NCC, is the Therapeutic and Wellness Manager for Villa Maria School and St. Vincent’s Villa. Melissa has worked in the mental health field for 25+ years in various settings, including residential treatment, special education and public schools, college counseling centers, outpatient clinics, and in-patient hospitals. She has worked as a clinician, direct care worker, and supervisor in these settings. Melissa uses a trauma informed care approach in her work with clients and staff and specializes in working with youth and families. She is also a certified Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) trainer and a Children and Residential Experiences (CARE) educator.
Johanna Miller, LCSW-C, is a licensed clinical social worker with a background in providing individual, group, and family therapy, supervising mental health clinicians, and supporting staff and consumers through training and programmatic change. She has extensive experience working with trauma survivors and is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. In addition to operating a private practice, Johanna is Director of New Program Development and Clinical Training for Catholic Charities Villa Maria Behavioral Health Clinics, where she uses her clinical background to inform her work in program support and staff growth and learning.
This course is provided free to current Catholic Charities of Baltimore employees and for a fee to non-employees. Registration and additional information, including cost is available via Eventbrite.
