It is with heavy hearts that the family of Cheryl L. Gonzalez announces her unexpected passing on August 1, 2025. We take comfort in knowing she is now in God’s care, surrounded by peace and love.
Cheryl was born on January 5, 1970, in Riverside, California. She was a devoted mother, cherished partner, and loyal friend whose warmth and kindness touched everyone she met. Cheryl had a gift for making people feel loved—often through her incredible cooking, which could comfort and delight in equal measure.
Cheryl turned her passion into a career with Cheryl’s Kitchen, a business she poured her heart into and took great pride in. She loved nothing more than gathering with family and friends, sharing meals, laughter, and love.
Cheryl carried a quiet but steady belief in God, which shaped the way she treated others—with compassion, generosity, and grace. She had a playful spirit, too—well known in the family for giving all the young kiddos “little old lady” names that made everyone smile and feel special. This tradition will carry on.
She is survived by her two sons—the true loves of her life—Jeff Batte and Jake Arvizo; her sweetheart, Lee Evert; her cousin and first best friend, Shannon Hall; her close cousin, Skot Brown; and her beloved aunt, Patricia Halterman. She also leaves behind many cherished family members and friends who will forever hold her memory close.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Loretta and Clyde, her parents Greg and Daiva, her niece Caessea, her former husband Lynn Homer, and her stepson Chaz Homer.
Cheryl’s love, laughter, and light will live on in all who were lucky enough to know her.
“Your mind tricked you to feel the pain. Of someone close to you leaving the game of life.
Your dream is over; or has it just begun?” #Queensrÿche
Mothers never really leave us. They pass into the wind, into the roots, into the rhythm of our days.
Their love becomes the soundtrack beneath our silence, the strength behind our steps.
And when we cook, laugh, weep, or love—they live again. Today we honor our Mother not with a goodbye, but with a promise: to live fully, love fiercely, and walk in peace just like she taught us.
