Student Environmental Leadership Day
Calling all Year 5 - 7 student leaders! Join us for a dynamic, hands-on day designed to inspire and empower young changemakers from your Enviro, Green, WAVE, or Student Council teams across South Canterbury.
This year’s theme, “We Can Make a Difference”, encourages students to explore how small, meaningful actions can create big environmental change. Grounded in the Sustainable Development Goals, the day links literacy, wellbeing, and sustainability through interactive learning and connection.
Activities include:
🌱 Waste Audit Coaching – practical tools to take back to school
🔬 Citizen Science – explore real environmental data collection
🐾 Predator Free – learn how to protect our native species
The day will also include fun icebreakers, collaborative learning, a student-led lunch, and a group hui to reflect on what each school will take back to drive change in their communities.
Doors open at 9.40am. Please bring your own morning tea to have before we start. We will provide lunch for everyone.
Presented in partnership by Environment Canterbury, South Canterbury Eco Centre, Enviro NZ and WAVE.
Spaces are limited – 4 student leaders (Year 5 - 7) + 1 teacher from your school. Register now by emailing Alice at
