Let’s Bring Back the Birds to Timaru!
Predator Free Timaru is led by a passionate group of locals working to bring native birds like Tūī, Bellbird and Kererū back to Timaru - and we believe around the Scenic is the perfect place to start.
To make this a reality, we need your help.
If you live near the Scenic (but anywhere in Timaru welcomed), we’d love you to become an active trapper. Predators like rats are holding back the return of our taonga species, and the more coordinated our efforts, the better the results. Trapping might sound simple - but without the right knowledge, it’s easy to create trap-shy predators. That’s why we’re hosting a free information evening to share everything you need to know.
✅ Learn how and why to trap
✅ Discover how to record your data (which helps us secure future funding)
✅ Buy a rat tunnel (+ victor trap) - made by Rotary District 9999 - special price on the night.
📍 South Canterbury Eco Centre (next to The Crow’s Nest)

Our target area is around the Scenic BUT everyone is welcome! The more people working towards Predator Free 2050, the better!
