We are proud to be supporting The Great Cane Toad bust in January!
What is the Great Cane Toad Bust?
The Great Cane Toad Bust is Australia’s biggest cane toad control event, changing the game for Cane Toad control!
Every year, Cane Toads (Rhinella marina) wreak havoc on Australian native wildlife, poison thousands of pets and even impact local agriculture.
Cane Toads can live for more than 10 years, and females can produce up to 35,000 eggs each time she breeds. This means that every Cane Toad removed really does count!
This event is action packed, fun and can have a huge impact on Cane Toad numbers.
Who can attend?
Any one over the age of 10years old
What will we be doing?
We will be collecting cane toads using rubber gloves and placing them in buckets to be humanely euthanised.
How to toad bust:
1. Head out after sunset
2. Use a bright torch to look for Cane Toads - when you see a toad, grab it!
3. Place toad in bucket.
4. Repeat! Every toad caught makes a difference.
5. After your toad busting session, count your catch and upload your data.
6. Humanely euthanise your Cane Toads.
What should I bring:
A bright torch, gloves and a bucket with a lid if you have one. We will be able to provide most of these things too if you don't have them at home.
Where to meet:
Meet at the Wittonga Park playground!
