Maya Hughes & Richard Crane at The Cross House Tavern

Maya was named after a 60s song by psychedelic folk outfit The Incredible String Band, which set the tone for the life that followed: 'Maya, Maya, all this world is but a play, be thou the joyful player!' Characterised by pure, arresting vocals, romantic melodies and moody hues, sung from the heart, Maya’s music aims to soothe the ears and touch the soul. She joyfully plays alongside bassist Richard Crane, combining her own compositions with English and Irish folk songs and an eclectic mix of covers from artists as diverse as Beth Orton, Bowie and Bacharach
