What is Tailgating at the Opera?
Tailgating at The Santa Fe Opera is a beloved local tradition—not your typical sports tailgate! Before the show, opera-goers often gather in the scenic parking area to enjoy their own food, drinks, and the breathtaking sunset views over the Sangre de Cristo mountains. It’s a festive, relaxed way to meet new people and soak up the Opera’s unique atmosphere.
For this event, you’re welcome to bring your own picnic or favorite snacks to enjoy during the mixer—or simply join in the casual conversation and atmosphere before heading into the performance.
