About the event

55th Annual Tony Hulman Classic

First held in 1971, the Tony Hulman Classic quickly became one of sprint car racing’s most
prestigious events. Named in honor of Tony Hulman, the influential businessman who saved
and revived the Indianapolis 500 after WWII, the event has been won by many of the sport’s
all-time greats, including Jack Hewitt, Gary Bettenhausen, Levi Jones, and Bryan Clauson.
