Join us for an inspiring afternoon of connection with local food producers, community members, knowledge keepers, and aspiring growers. Discover the principles of no-till agriculture and sustainable farming practices suited to Northern BC. Tour the Mobile Seed Cleaning trailer and try out the tools available to seed savers in the region.
After a busy afternoon of engagement, we will enjoy seasonal culinary creations by local chef Anna Silva, celebrating the abundance of the Skeena region. This event will spotlight the versatile—and often underappreciated—fava bean, along with other resilient seeds and plants that flourish in the Northwest.

About Thimbleberry Farm
Practicing ethical and sustainable small-scale agriculture in the picturesque Skeena Valley
Thimbleberry Farm is located on Tsimshian Territory in Terrace, BC. Established in 2016, owners and operators Vicky and Chris grow vegetables in their no-till market garden, alongside pastured poultry, sheep, a layer flock, and meat rabbits. Amongst the crops, you’ll find many varieties going to seed, from landrace fava beans, molasses faced dry beans, overwintered kale and other seed and bean delights. Vicky and Chris integrate the farm’s different operations to create a healthy and diverse agro-ecosystem that produces nutritious, ethically grown food & seed for their family and community.
About Chef Anna Silva
From a Masters in Environmental Chemistry to Master Gardener and plant-based chef, Anna brings her learnings from nature, science, garden and kitchen to create culinary creations and preserves on Tsimshian Territory.
Anna looks forward to introducing folks to unique ways to prepare seasonal crops that thrive in our NorthWest climate, you may even get to sample some vegan cheese made from locally grown fava beans!
We aim to:
- Honour the knowledge and skills of seasoned producers
- Celebrate and support aspiring growers
- Connect with food heroes of the Skeena
- Share skills for sustainable farming and seed production
- Build community connections around local food from the land
