Foraging Maine Mushrooms: An Introductory Walk

Maine mushroom expert Greg Marley will lead us in a walk in the woods and introduction to foraging wild mushrooms.

The walk will focus on what is available as well as the more foolproof edibles and how and where to find them as we move into autumn.

Please dress adequately for the weather and a walk through the woods on the library’s trails. All ages are welcome, with adult supervision. Participants are invited to bring fresh mushrooms from home to add to the learning.

The walk will last approximately an hour and a half, followed by a half hour discussion from approximately 10:30-11:00am.

Greg Marley has been studying, growing, collecting and cooking and eating wild mushrooms for 50 years. He lives and mushrooms along the coast of Maine, and teaches mushroom identification and ecology to aspiring foragers.
