Sunday Gathering: Within Me, an Invincible Summer

After World War II, Albert Camus returned to Tipasa, Algeria, hoping to reconnect with the freedom and wonder of his youth. What he found instead was a changed world and a changed self. This realization led him back to France, where he renewed his commitment to fighting injustice.

In his powerful essay “Return to Tipasa,” Camus reflects: “In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer.” What did Camus discover in that moment of reflection, and how can his insight inspire those of us striving to confront injustice in our own time?
